I know I’ll get into trouble for writing this, but I don’t think I really care.

I periodically check Hong Kong’s most boring website to see whether they have managed to write anything even mildly interesting (no), and whether they have got over their obsession with blogging (apparently they haven’t).

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that the latest subject of grave concern to them is the layout of the South China Morning Post. Apparently the front page dated 21 April has no less than three examples of single lines of text appearing at the top or bottom of columns. Gosh. This is a subject so dull that it makes the ‘Media Follies’ section of Spike look positively fascinating, and I can only assume that it was written by a sub-editor. No-one else would notice, surely?

Incidentally, it also seems like complete tosh. I happen to have a copy of The Times at home, and a quick scan through the first few pages shows that standards have apparently fallen there as well, for it has countless examples of exactly the same thing, as if it mattered. Which it really doesn’t.

I wonder if certain individuals over at said dull web site, realising I won’t give them what they want, are behind the attacks on me and my site over at IceRed?

I don’t normally read IceRed but I did happen upon that thread today. One comment there looks to be identical to things that the ‘certain individual’ has said before about you (possibly when he launched his ill-advised attempt to advertise his site on IceRed). Ignore him (he said, not taking his own advice).

That’s the thought I’d had. I will continue to ignore the git.

I happened to visit said quasi-blog just now. I do find it well worth a visit once a month and I might even link to if it were a full blog.
I was delighted to see my site mentioned again (post on HK walking). Any publicity is good publicity, and I think I’ve been mentioned twice in the three Blogwatches since I started. I’m only sorry that I haven’t yet made it to the 10 Worst Blogs.
Even if they deliberately misrepresent what is written (e.g. rather than “complaining” about HK walking, I regard it as an intriguing sport and was offering tips for participants), I can hardly object since that is what I do most of the time.
It’s the comment about Rotherham that hurts – I don’t even know where Rotherham is!

To me, the real irony is that Hemlock is far more consistently negative about Hong Kong than almost any other Hong Kong blogger, and yet NTSCMP seems to approve of his stuff whilst complaining about everyone else.
Another irony is that the only people who comment on NTSCMP are bloggers. Everyone else just ignores him.

I looked at that thread on Icered. Some of the comments may even be actionable. BWG, you might want to point this out to Icered and get these guys blocked.

Yes, I know – hopefully they’ll get around to it.
I’m past being pissed off about it – anyone who believes what “some people” post needs to give his head a shake.
As a forum, IceRed has more than its share of lowlifes and liars as members.

Ive worked out NTSCMP’s problem, he cant get a job writing as a journalist anymore and all these bloggers are having fun writing stuff without needing to get paid for it.Plus, worst of all, they write better than he does.
