Mia points out another new Hong Kong blog, though the title is enough to put most right-thinking people off reading it (so it’s not going on my bloglist*). She seems to have been rather confused by New Town Plaza, the hideously large and rambling shopping centre in Sha Tin. Me too.

Also [this time via Fumier], welcome back to Ran, who has a new blog. I just hope it’s not quite as strange as the last one he did, because that was way too weird for me .

I’ll be back in a few days when I’m not feeling so damn tired. Must find a way to earn a living without having to work…

* I changed my mind (see the comments).

Thanks a lot for the mention. I’m kind of attached to my blog’s name (“Hello, Kitty!”), but since nobody else is, perhaps I’ll scrap it in an effort to get linked to. Though some might construe that as selling out, it seems the title has become a hindrance….
To explain: when I first moved here from the US, I couldn’t get over the Hong Kong attitude towards cute. Three months later, I’m still consistently shocked by the total, non-ironic acceptance of cute. My students turn in papers with Sanrio stickers on them, and they keep their writing implements in carrying cases shaped like soft little puppies. Astroboy has his own credit card… and almost an entire store in the Shatin plaza! Everyday, I wake up to face a Hello, Kitty world. So I choose to say, “Hello, Kitty!” back to it. With a heavy dose of irony that I fear doesn’t come across in my two-world blog title.
I miss irony. But maybe genuine enjoyment is better…

You certainly shouldn’t change the name just to please a few miserable old bloggers like me!!
Irony’s good for me, so on to the blogroll you go! Writing about the “non-ironic acceptance of cute” should keep you busy for many months.

Chris. Was it really so strange?
Compliments aside, thank you for the plug. And truly, everyone I know is snottingly sick, so make sure to drink those vitamin Cs, rest easy, and I herebye bless thee with a curse of a thousand hour-long massages from legal receptionists with small noses. All hail with great praise.
