Another year goes by, and we still have the same old problem. TVB are apparently unable to provide an English language commentary for the Rugby Sevens on Jade HD. You can choose TVB Pearl, but with a fuzzy picture, or HD with no English.
What really puzzles me about this is that the picture quality on the digital version of TVB Pearl is more than adequate for US dramas, so if they have an HD feed why can’t they at least manage to have good quality standard definition for the rugby?
Eh? I was watching it on Pearl digital (via my NOW HD box) and the picture quality looked absolutely fine to me. The commentary was of variable quality, but it was in English.

Picture was fine on our ancient set on Pearl. The games I saw were of variable quality, apart from the England-Oz quarter-final. When will they learn that a 7 minute each-half final will provide a fairer test and a better spectacle?

Well, I’m still convinced that picture quality on Jade HD was much better than on Pearl’s digital channel. Of course Pearl looks OK on a smaller screen.
